RailsConf Berlin Day -1
by jsiegel on September 16, 2007
First and foremost--many thanks go to the wonderful group of dedicated Railsers and incredibly gratious hosts at Berlin's RUG for organizing Bratwurst on Rails before this year's Berlin RailsConf. Benjamin Krause is a Berlin local and our point of contact for the event. He had outstanding turnout after 400+ signed up for the Bratwursting and signup had to close early. The talk was light, fun and a wee bit fuzzy. Lots of interesting conversation and a good glimpse of the local interests.
Bratwurst was held in a comfy bar with lots of outdoor space to allow for the grilling! The conference hotel is the Maritim proArte Hotel located in the East of the city just off one of the main U-Bahn stops. The evening walk from the hotel to Bratwurst was incredibly pleasant--we couldn't have asked for a more interesting location for the conference (nor better weather). Google does a great job outlining the stroll:
Just before the event, my wife and I had the pleasure of having an impromptu street-mime-puppeting-troop experience. Best understood after looking at the pics below:

Mimes aside--late, late in the evening, we made our way back to the hotel and Marcel Molina and Bruce Williams organized a few rounds of Werewolves vs Villagers--in which I demonstrated my lack of poker skills by allowing a win to be avoided with a 12 to 1 advantage.
